Inventory of Home Grown Applications with Different File Versions | English | 393 KB |
| Description: Software has to be contained in the Inventory product database so that it can be recognized and inventoried during the computer scan. In order to be inventoried, the software has to be defined as Home Grown Application (HGA) in the Inventory Console. If you are using several versions of this software and if you created an HGA for each version, it may happen that not all versions are inventoried separately. The different versions are inventoried as the same HGA. This whitepaper describes the cause of this behavior and provides examples. Also, it explains how to customize enteo Inventory 3.2 or higher so that all program versions can be inventoried separately. |

SPD 1.5 SP1 (WSUS) - Information on Log File Entries and the Offline Catalog | English | 298 KB |
| Description: Starting with Security Patch Deployment 1.5 SP1, the Windows Update Agent (WUA) is used to analyze computers. With the offline catalog (catalog of the available security patches of the WSUS server), the WUA creates a list of patches that have to be installed on the analyzed computer. The Microsoft Base Security Analyzer (MBSA) also uses the offline catalog to analyze computers. Microsoft provides the WSUS offline catalog as wsusscan.cab file. Due to particular replication features (i.e. SEC files are replicated automatically), the wsusscan.cab is renamed to patch_[Nr].sec (Nr = a “timestamp” Microsoft creates for the offline catalog wsusscan.cab). The information provided in this document helps you understand the log file entries better and allows you to analyze the offline catalog easier. |
